The towns of Holsworthy and Bideford are also nearby and offer weekly open air markets swimming pools and other sports recreations plus a wide range of shops pubs and restaurants. For those who enjoy wildlife and walks take a trip to the Tamar Lakes also famous for its birdwatching and watersports. In the evening stroll to the village square with its shops and pubs serving excellent bar meals. Leisure facilities: enjoy fishing in the purpose-built lake fishing extra ( 6 per day or 25 per week - half price for children). Holsworthy is a market town in north west Devon, England, not far from the Cornish border. It has a long history with a mention in the Domesday book, and is located within a few miles of Sutcombe, Tetcott, Bridgerule, Milton Damerel, Bradworthy, and Bude and is one of more then three hundred towns and villages in Devon in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest cities are Plymouth and Exeter).
Holsworthy has one of the largest live stock markets in the South West of England and it holds a popular country show every year. Once served by a railway, evidence of the new closed line still remains with large viaducts either side of the town.
